For adult treatments Justine focuses on the appropriate combination of modalities to achieve optimal health and wellness, these may include Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Massage, Core Stability Rehabilitation and Postural Awareness Development.
Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a treatment performed with the client fully clothed lying on the bed with the practitioner making gentle hand contact with different parts of the body, mainly from the tailbone to the head. During the session the practitioner identifies areas of restriction, compression or tension throughout the body, which may be impeding proper function of the organs, muscles, nerves blood vessels and body tissues. The restrictions or asymmetry may be the result of physical injury, poor posture, emotional stress or tension, disease or birth trauma.
The Cranio-Sacral system consists of the membranes which surround the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) ; the bones of the cranium (22) ,vertebrae and sacrum (tailbone) which attach to these membranes ; the connective tissue which radiates outfrom the membranes to all parts of the body (enveloping every nerve) ; and the cerebrospinal fluid within and surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
By allowing the body’s inherent healing ability to be expressed – the spine, skull and all the cranial sutures, nervous tissue and soft tissue resume their natural position. This allows for optimized movement of the cerebrospinal fluid and restoration of symmetry and alignment, Increased energy levels facilitates rebalancing of all the body systems which may improve digestion, reduce stress levels, improve sleep patterns and result in a calmer mental and emotional state. Cranio-Sacral Therapy offers a holistic approach to balancing the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our being,
